FAQ
(GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT CREDIT REPAIR)
What is credit repair/cleaning? - Credit repair is the legal process of addressing inaccurate, unverifiable, or unfair negative items on your credit reports with the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) and/or your creditors.
Is credit repair legal? - Yes, absolutely. Credit repair is legal under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which gives you the legal right to dispute any information on your credit report that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable.
Can I repair my credit on my own? - Yes, you have the right to dispute errors on your own for free. However, many people choose to hire a professional service because we have the expertise, time, and systems to navigate the complex credit reporting laws and consistently follow up with bureaus and creditors.
(THE CREDIT CLEANING PROCESS)
How does your credit cleaning process work? - Our process typically involves three main steps: 1. Credit Report Analysis: We obtain and thoroughly review your reports from all three bureaus to identify potential discrepancies. 2. Dispute Preparation: We prepare and send formal dispute letters to the credit bureaus and/or creditors, challenging the inaccurate items. 3. Monitoring and Follow-Up: We track the responses and continue with follow-up disputes and other strategies until the maximum possible corrections are achieved.
How long does the credit repair process take? - It varies significantly for everyone, as it depends on the number of negative items, the type of items, and the responsiveness of the credit bureaus and creditors. Typically, clients see results within 1 to 2 months, but complex cases may take longer. We cannot provide a specific guarantee on the timeline.
What is required of me during the process? - You will need to provide us with a signed Letter of Authorization via DocuSign email, PDF 3-Bureaus Credit Report, Image of Current ID/DL and SSN card, PDF Current Utility Bill, Non-Voip Phone, Email
(POST-REPAIR CREDIT BUILDING QUESTIONS)
Once you remove a negative item, can it reappear? - The FCRA prohibits a credit bureau from reinserting a previously deleted item unless they certify that the information is complete and accurate, and they notify you in writing within five days. If a reinsertion occurs, we will re-dispute it on your behalf.
Do I need to change my spending habits during this process? - Yes, this is critical. Credit repair is only half the battle. We strongly advise clients to practice good financial habits, such as: 1. Paying all bills on time. 2. Keeping credit card balances low (ideally under a 30% utilization ratio). 3. Avoiding opening too many new credit accounts too quickly.
Should I stop contacting my creditors/debt collectors once I hire you? - We handle the disputes with the bureaus and creditors on your behalf. However, if you have current debts you are actively trying to pay or settle, you should discuss this strategy with us first. You must continue to make required minimum payments on all current, undisputed accounts to avoid new negative marks.
